Today, there are over
refugees in San Diego*.
Friendships For Hope (FFH) has developed over a 5 year period of time from March, 2011 – February 2016 out of the food ministry of Paradise Valley Community Services (PVCS). On February 21, 2016 FFH was incorporated as a 501(C)(3) charitable corporation with its own board of directors. FFH continues to work in a close partnership with PVCS in working for the underprivileged and refugees of San Diego County. The English language school and community garden will continue to function out of the facilities of PVCS. PVCS will continue to provide food, clothing and work experiences for the refugees, while FFH will specialize in the area of education teaching the refugees language, social and job skills. As these two nonprofit organizations continue to partner together each will be able to bring strength to their own programs, while helping each other to offer a strong service to our San Diego Community.
PVCS’s thrift store will continue to provide work experiences for refugees, while also providing low cost top quality clothing, furniture and household items for the refugees and our surrounding community. Visit our thrift store at: 3400 E 8th St. National City, or click on the link to see pictures
We invite you to see firsthand some of our work by clicking on the video featured stories above. These videos have been prepared for us by friends who are supporters of FFH. We also invite you to join hands with us by becoming a friend of FFH and contributing to FFH while you are visiting on our web page. You could set up a small monthly donation which could come to us automatically each month. This would help us greatly!
We believe we are called to help the oppressed, poor, and refugees of our community to become educationally, economically, physically and socially viable. Friendships For Hope provides the poor and refugees of San Diego County a safe loving environment where they are able to obtain the essential tools to start a new life in our mutual community.
As we are helping refugees to become self-sufficient it is the goal that our program also find ways to become self-sustaining within the next 10 years (by 2025). We aim to lead by example and practice what we are teaching to the refugees.
Paradise Valley Community Services has been bringing hope to our community since 1904.
